Fostering Growth and Healing

Art Therapy is an integrative mental health profession that combines psychological theory with the use of art media and the creative process to bring about therapeutic change. It has the ability to engage the mind, body, and spirit in ways that are not possible through verbal expression alone.
Our bodies not only speak through words, sensations, and movement, but through images. Expressing yourself through art offers deep emotional release as it allows for the expression of both conscious and unconscious material, which isn't achieved through talking alone. My treatment approach uniquely incorporates a combination of art therapy and traditional talk therapy to better help you express and explore yourself, find your resilience, and heal.
Art Therapy can be effective for individuals of all ages (Art Therapy isn’t just for kids!). It has been effectively used to treat a wide range of mental and emotional concerns, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, grief, identity development, self-esteem, adjustment/life transitions, chronic pain, eating disorders, body image, OCD, developmental disorders, relationship concerns, anger issues, and substance abuse.
Art Therapy can be particularly helpful for individuals who struggle expressing themselves verbally. It can provide individuals a way to express themselves when there are no words for what they’re experiencing.
There are many benefits to using Art Therapy, including:
You do not have to have any artistic skill or experience in order to benefit from Art Therapy. The emphasis is on the process of art-making, the experience of engaging with art materials, and self-expression, not on the product.
